So many people out there want to live more creatively. If you have been following my blog, chances are you are one of them. My story is one of having a dream of being creative and slowly, step by step, coming to live that dream. It might sound a bit idyllic, but there is no glamour or magic to it. There is only the methodology: online learning and practice, practice, practice.
When I was a little girl I dreamt of being a travel journalist. However, my parents (coming out of Soviet Russia) were more concerned with my security and stability than letting me live out my creative potential. So I went and studied Law at a very good University, and spent five years working in Financial Regulation for some very good names in the industry. Although my LinkedIn screamed success, that little girl inside felt that I’ve failed. I was dying to create but didn’t feel that I was good/ creative enough. Eventually, I started going to painting classes and realized that it made a happier person – I found a creative outlet and I wanted more.
Enter online learning
Jeremy Cowart once said: “I’m tempted to tell up & coming artists to NOT study art. Study money, business & marketing. You’ll learn the art naturally out of passion.”
Learn from Experts
The beauty of online learning is you can learn everything you need to help kick-start your creative side-hustle while working the job that pays the bills. It’s accessible, practical and portable. There are some great platforms out there. For example, Coursera is a global learning platform from leading Institutions around the world. Here you can learn from the likes of Nat Geo, Museum of Modern Art, and Princeton University, in your own time and space. They have a huge selection of courses that are taught by experts, be it in business, personal development, art and design. If you want to live more creativity, but are not sure where to start, check out their Mindshift Course . It teaches you to break through obstacles to learning and discover your hidden potential.
Today is such an exciting time for creative people. The Internet has changed the game of how we can learn, set up businesses and distribute our art. We no longer need anyone’s permission to do any of these things. If you’ve been thinking that you want more from your life, or even want to grow your existing business, look into online learning. I promise you, it’s worth the investment!
